Abstract: With the growing demand of Internet of Things (IoT), the number of devices connected to networks will be in the billions. One of the key technologies of IoT is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), which uses a 96 bit Electronic Product Code (EPC) for the uniquei identification of each device to which it is connected. Communication between the RFID tag and reader should be confidential, i.e. only the reader can know the correct EPC of the tag. This can be achieved by using a Lightweight Cryptography Algorithm, as the passive RFID has limited resource. In this work, we have modified the lightweight cryptography algorithm, PRESENT, which is a 64 bit block cipher to encrypt and decrypt EPC. We used round based architecture for the implementation, thus improving the throughput of the computation. We implemented the modified algorithm on Microsemi IGLOO 2 FPGA package M2GL025-VF256.
